A Skincare Affair with Fresh, Caudalie and Sunday Riley

Let’s take a step back into 2008. President Barak Obama was making his way into office, Beyoncé released the epic feminist anthem, “If I Were a Boy,” and I was getting my first pimple. Dun. Dun. Dun.

At 13 years old, you can imagine my first pimple seeming like the end of the world. How would that boy in my class like me with a zit the size of Texas on my forehead?

I’m happy to say that not only have my priorities changed, but so has the condition of my skin. I’ve, of course, had my ups and downs through my skin journey. I’m grateful for all my humps in the road because it forced me to learn more about skincare.

With my finicky skin, I’ve developed a fascination with ingredients and how they meet different skin concerns. Also, as an avid reader I’ve always been a sucker for a good story. That’s why my visit to the Sephora Tysons Corner Mall was so special.

IMG_5965

I was invited to sit in and join reps from Fresh Beauty, Caudalie and Sunday Riley for an in-store pampering event. This included a custom mini-service, which included a double cleanse from one brand, mask from a second and a treatment and moisturizer from the last. I also got the chance to have story times with all of the reps from each of the brands. If it’s not obvious, I immediately jumped at the chance.

IMG_6078 2

I began my pampering session with Fresh from Sales and Education Coordinator for Fresh, Laura Arzate. Fresh is an amazing brand that uses a lot of natural ingredients, like seaberry oil, sugar, sake and more! Laura was incredibly sweet and started me out by testing my skin to really gauge my skin type. To my surprise, she marked my skin as “normal/dry.” I always thought I was just oily!

IMG_6099

The story of the brand is pretty amazing. It all started in their OG apothecary store in Boston, “Nuts about Beauty,” where they created and sold a number of natural beauty products, including their famous oval soap. Also, with some research, I found that the founders, Lev Glazman and Alina Roytberg, were the first to use sugar as an exfoliant! (Now we see sugar as an exfoliant for our face, lips and skin! Talk about a revolutionary innovation!) They’ve always been very passionate about skincare rituals, which shows with their lines that they’ve come out with to today. One bar of soap turned into some of my favorite products, like the Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask, Sugar Rosé Tinted Lip Treatment and more. This year, Fresh is celebrating 25 years of innovation.

We went into the double cleanse, where she started off with the Seaberry Skin Nutrition Cleansing Oil. She explained that she wanted to get my skin clean, without stripping my natural oils, which is why this was perfect. It really helped to cleanse my face and give me some (much needed!) hydration.

IMG_6066

Then she finished cleansing with the Soy Face Cleanser. (Did you know that Soy Skincare was first introduced in 1999?) Soy is rich with anti-oxidants, which are said to soften skin while maintaining elasticity. It’s also good for sensitive skin because it contains cucumber and rosewater, which are calming and soothing ingredients for your skin. I’m interested in trying this one out some more because I had a weird reaction several years ago when I first tried it. When we tried it this time around, I didn’t see any breakouts or irritation, so that’s a definite plus!

Caudalie

I scooted over to Caudalie, where we went into exfoliating my skin. I learned more about the brand from the rep, Amy Schaeffer! The story of Caudalie begins in France with a couple. What you would be surprised to learn is their products are very eco-friendly. You won’t find any preservatives or animal by-products. I even got to learn what the deal was with the grapes. Apparently in 1993, they met with Professor Joseph Vercauteren, who shared his amazing discovery. A special nutrient, called phenolic compounds, that were extracted from grape seeds, which are significantly more effective than Vitamin E. (In case you don’t know, Vitamin E is great for reducing wrinkles, nourishes, lightens dark marks and much more!)

IMG_6073

Over at Caudalie, we went into their Instant Detox Mask, which I have to say, I really love. It contains clay, but I didn’t get that tight, drying feeling that I’ve experienced with others. This has to do with the grape seed in it! My skin felt very soft when we got it all rinsed off. (I’m definitely going to purchase this for myself soon!)

IMG_6101

We finished off with a couple spurts of the famous Beauty Elixir, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary. (Here’s where you can get the elixir with the special 20th anniversary packaging.) If you haven’t tried it yet, I’m going to advise you to immediately go into your nearest Sephora and try it out. I immediately fell in love with the toning spray because of its minty scent.

IMG_6102

After that, I finished off at Sunday Riley for some treatment and (Apparently much needed!) hydration! I got to learn about Sunday herself and her story when building her brand from Jennifer Hatton. (AKA the girl with perfect skin.) I thought it was so interesting to learn about how involved Sunday was with all creating all the products in her line. Sunday isn’t only the CEO of her brand, but she’s the formulator of her products!   Talk about total #BossBabe.

(Also, they just released the Auto Correct Brightening and Depuffing Eye Contour Cream on Sephora.com for Rouge members ONLY, so check it out while you have the chance!)

IMG_6028

During story time, Jen treated my skin with some classic products. We started with the Martian Mattifying Melting Water-Gel Tone. She used this specifically for me because I did explain that I tend to get pretty oily in my t-zone. It transforms from a green gel into a very thin and lightweight water oner that is said to help with tightening pores, clarify and remove oils. Looking into the ingredients, I understand how it’s going to do all of that. It contains Bentonite Clay, which mattifies, while the green tea and marshmallow soothes the skin. (Yeah, marshmallow!) I did like how lightweight it was so that was a definite plus!

Because I still have some issues with breakouts and texture here and there, went in with the U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil. I do advise you to be careful with this because though it’s a phenomenal product, it does contain Salicylic Acid, which, in some cases can cause dryness and peeling, especially if you overuse it. In case you want to try it out anyways, get a sample from Sephora and test it on a small part of your neck for a couple days. This should give you a better idea of if you’re sensitive to it!

We also went into the C.E.O. Rapid Flash Brightening Serum with is basically the Beyoncé of Vitamin C’s. (I refuse to apologize for all my Beyoncé references.) This is perfect for lightening your dark marks and brightening your overall complexion. When she first applied it to my skin, I immediately smelled oranges, which I’m a big fan of. I’m also a fan of the glow that I got. I’m definitely interested in testing this out some more in the future!

IMG_6105

Last, but not least, we went into the Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream. It’s perfect for brightening (I sense a trend!) your complexion, which we could all use during this crazy Virginia weather. (I’m convinced Mother Nature just said screw fall and skipped right into winter.) It’s a thin consistency and absorbs very nicely into the skin and keeps you hydrated. I left Sephora extremely hydrated!

IMG_5968

All in all, I had a fantastic time during the Skincare Affair at Sephora Tysons Corner and would totally jump at the chance to go again. That’s why you’ll definitely see me on Saturday, December 9 during the Beauty Circuit with Hourglass, Fresh and Living Proof in Sephora Montgomery Mall! Will I be seeing you there?

Have you all tried out any of these products? I’d love to get your thoughts on them! Let me know in the comments!

Double Up (On Your Mascara, That Is!)

DSC_0828

To this day, most everyone that I’ve come in contact with has commented on how large my eyes are. I’ve gotten everything from “They’re so big and beautiful,” to “Can you close your eyes a little bit? They’re freaking me out.”Middle school was a great time.

Because of this, I wanted to close my eyes off because I thought it would make me better. Cue a thirteen-year-old Kat with black liner smeared all around her eyes. Granted, it did close my eyes up, but let’s just say I won’t be going back to that style of makeup anytime soon.

Fast forward to present day, I rarely line my inner rim with black. In fact, I love accentuating my eyes and drawing more attention to them. And what’s the best way to draw attention? Mascara, of course!

IMG_4398

Everyone has their preference on mascara, but I’m here to give you a simple tip to getting the best lashes of your life! All you’ll need is a lengthening mascara, as well as a volumizing one.

IMG_4402

Start off with your favorite volumizing mascara as usual. My favorite at the moment is the L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise, which I got during my time at Beautycon this summer. You’re going to do one even coat, ensuring all your lashes are coated.

IMG_4409

After allowing them to dry for a bit (Not full dry!), you’re going to follow that with your favorite lengthening mascara. I’m using the Maybelline Volum’ Express The Falsies Push Up Drama Angel mascara, which is my favorite overall mascara. The wand is everything you need if you want length!

While applying, make sure your wand isn’t heavily coated when applying to your lashes. This is going to help you prevent clumps, while separating the lashes evenly. It’s also going to give you that length that the L’Oreal mascara didn’t!

IMG_4414

After that, you should see that your lashes are defined, but separated. Though it may seem like a lot of work to use two mascaras, but I promise when you do it, once, it’ll be a breeze!

Do you double up on your mascara? Let me know some of your favorite tips on getting your best lashes!

Top 5 Deep Lips for Winter

dsc_0256

It’s that time of the year again. The weather is colder, snow has fallen, and dark lips are in.   I’m sure that all of you have seen this image floating all around Instagram about the “perfect” winter makeup. This look is paired with the perfect deep, plum lips.

I really do love a deep, purple lip in the winter time. It can be paired with a neutral eye to make a bold statement or with a dramatic, smokey eye to make your look more sultry. After some thorough research, I’ve managed to culminate a list of my top five plum lips.

dsc_0261

Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour in “An Affair”
This is a deep plum shade that is perfect to pair with just liner or a blown out smokey eye. Very creamy and comfortable to wear. Sold out on the Laura Mercier website, but it’s on Sephora.com for $28!

dsc_0262

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in “Firebird”
This has more of a pink undertone, if you’re nervous about going dark. The cream finish makes it super easy to apply. It’s $17 on the Urban Decay webpage.

dsc_0263

Bite Beauty Matte Créme Lip Crayon in “Aubergine”
I’m a big fan of the Bite Beauty Lip Crayons. This eggplant shade, in particular, is easy to apply and comfortable on the lips. It’s $24 on Sephora.com.

dsc_0268

MAC Plushglass Lip Gloss in “Oversexed”
I’m a big fan of the MAC Plushglasses because of the plumping effect. This is perfect if you’re over the matte trend and you want to go glossy. Unfortunately, MAC.com does not carry it online anymore, but you can find it on eBay.com for $21.

dsc_0270

ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip in “LAX”
I’m absolutely obsessed with this vampy red color. If you love to go really dark, this is the lip for you. (Be sure to exfoliate before you apply!) Find it on ColourPop.com for $6.

I’m a big fan of all of these lippies. Do you have a favorite out of the ones I listed? If I didn’t list your go-to vampy lip, comment your favorite because I’d love to know.

What’s In My Makeup Bag?

I’ve been traveling a lot between my college campus and home since graduation last month. When I travel, one of the first things I pack is my makeup bag. (I should be ashamed of this, but I’m really not.)

img_4920

These are some products that I typically keep around that I know are easy to use and staples within my makeup collection. The only things that I did not include in this were items for my complexion, like my foundations or concealers. The reason for this is because I tend to switch those up a lot. So, let’s get into it, shall we?

img_0293

As much as I hate to say this, I have no idea where this bag is from. I actually received it as a gift from a friend of mine.

  1. The Urban Decay Original Eyeshadow Primer Potion is something that I believe everyone needs in their makeup bags. It helps to keep your eyeshadow on all day, also preventing creasing. It’s that one staple item that I stand by.
    – $12 on UrbanDecay.com
  2. The first thing I have to talk about is the Morphe Brushes 35O palette. If you’re into warm eye looks, this palette will be your best friend. It’s a staple for anyone that is interested in orange-tones on their eyes. Super pigmented and easy to blend, the 35O palette is definitely a must-have.
    – $22.95 on MorpheBrushes.com
  3. The next eyeshadow palette I love to throw in my beauty bag is my Tarte Tartelette in Bloom palette. I know that this isn’t pertinent information, but this smells like chocolate, making me want to eat it every time I open it up. The colors are super pigmented and it’s a nice neutral palette for everyday wear.
    – $45 on Tarte.com
  4. Since we’re talking about Tarte, we may as well go into the Tarte Skin Twinkle Lighting palette. I’ve actually talked about this product in a previous blog post. I generally only use “Sunlight” from this palette, but the texture of these shades are so beautiful. They’re easy to blend and it’s compact enough to just throw into your bag.
    – $42 on Tarte.com
  5. The next highlighter that I like to throw into this bag is my NYX Cosmetics Illuminator in “Narcissistic. When you first look at this shade, it’s easy to cast it aside because it looks pink, but it gives a beautiful peachy-gold highlight that you will fall in love with. This works especially well with deeper complexions.
    – $9 on NYXCosmetics.com
  6. The last highlighter that I have in my bag is the travel sized Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in “Bronze. This is one of my more toned down highlighters. On days that you want to have more of a golden glow from within, this is perfect.
    – $25 on Sephora.com
  7. Let’s move over to brows with the ColourPop Brow Pencil in “Banging Brunette.” I bought this on a whim, but I was happily surprised to find that I really like this. It’s comparable to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. I would say that this is much creamier, which you’ll either love or hate.
    – $5 on ColourPop.com
  8. I’m a big fan of the Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara in “Dark Brown.” After I use the the ColourPop Brow Pencil to fill in some sparse areas then use this to really define my hairs, making it look more natural.
    – $7.99 on Ulta.com
  9. 2016 was all about baking and I can say that I definitely jumped on the bandwagon with the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. This is perfect for my under eyes. However, I found that it’s a little too drying for the rest of my skin in this winter weather. (Has anyone else experienced this?)
    – $23 on LauraMercier.com
  10. I’m not much of a lash girl, (because I struggle putting them on) but the Ardell Lashes Deluxe Pack in 120 Demi Black have been amazing. The pack includes tweezers that make it a bit easier for me to apply lashes. It also comes with a travel size Duo lash glue for any lash mishaps on the go. (I know I’m not the only one!)
    – $5.99 on Ulta.com
  11. I haven’t played around too much with the VERT Beauty Eyeliner Pencil in “Vert.” I normally don’t wear colorful eyeliners, but I thought that if I leave it in my makeup bag, I’d be more inclined to wear it. You can learn more about VERT Beauty through a previous blog post.
    – $17 on VERTBeauty.com
  12. I received the Rimmel London Kohl Kajal Eye Liner in “Black” in a Survival Kit from Her Campus. I was a die-hard believer in the Maybelline Define-A-Line Eyeliner in Ebony Black, but this changed the game for me. It stayed put in my waterline during New Years Eve and if that doesn’t give you a good idea of how it wears, I don’t know what will.
    – $3.99 on Target.com
  13. Another staple item is the Kat Von D Ink Liner in “Trooper.” Everyone talks about this liner so I’m not going to go too in-depth with this. It dries down to a matte finish and I don’t experience any running with it. It’s something that I would definitely recommend to anyone.
    – $20 on Sephora.com
  14. This may seem insane, but I love to layer my mascaras, and one recent discovery has been the Covergirl So Lashy! blastPRO Mascara. I received it in my Twinkle VoxBox from Influenster. This is another product that you will either love or hate. I find myself fairly attracted to it because of the very unique applicator. It’s helpful when trying to reach my lashes on the outer corners.
    – $11.99 on Ulta.com
  15. The mascara that I love to use on top of the So Lashy! mascara is the Maybelline Volum’ Express The Colossal Mascara. This mascara helps to really separate my lashes and give me the volume that I’m really looking for that I can’t seem to get with just one mascara. Honestly, this is probably my favorite product in my bag.
    – $6.99 on Ulta.com

I’d love to know what are some of your makeup bag must-haves. Let me know! Also, I’d love to give a big thanks to Christina from Tiramisu for Breakfast for helping me with all of these pictures!

Best of 2016

As the year wraps up, I thought it would be a good idea to compile a list of some of my favorite products throughout the year. These products include stuff that I have been reaching for throughout the year.

Face Products

Complexion Favorites 2016

I have been on the lookout for a new contour powder. I found that the one that I had was too warm for me in the winter months. When I went into Sephora, I explained to one of the representatives my issue, she referred me to the Smashbox Step-By-Step Contour Kit. This is the perfect contour kit for someone with deeper skin complexions. It includes three colors, a contour shade, bronze shade, and highlight shade. I bought the “medium/deep” shade. When I am wanting a warmer contour, I mix the bronze with the contour shades to preventing it from being too cool and muddy.

I hate to jump on the bandwagon, but I couldn’t help it. This powder is phenomenal. Under the eyes, it helps to lock in your concealer and prevent it from creasing. One thing I have noticed is the fact that it clung to my dry spots this winter. That’s to be expected, being that it includes talc. I would suggest people with dry skin to dust this powder on, rather than bake with it to prevent it from clinging to your dry patches.

I actually received this as a Christmas gift from my lovely sister, Linda. (You can get to know her through her YouTube channel here.) There are a variety of shades that makes this a very versatile palette for any highlighter junkie. As you would expect, the highlighters are creamy and easy to work with. If you’re willing to splurge, it’s definitely a palette that you should look into.

Churro
colourpop.com
Churro was an instant favorite of mine. Though I didn’t mention it in my “Highlighter Favorites” post earlier this year, I completely fell in love with this. Much like other ColourPop products, Churro has a silky texture. It’s not too golden and not too peachy, making it perfect for a variety of skin tones. And the best part? It’s only $8!
Foundations
Foundation Favorites 2016

Again, I’m jumping on the bandwagon with the L’Oreal Pro-Matte foundation. There are countless reviews on this, so I won’t go too in-depth with this. It’s perfect for my oily skin makeup fanatics.

If you haven’t heard about this foundation, I am skeptical. This is geared towards those of you that are on the dryer side. As stated in the name, it gives off a luminous finish. If you’re more on the oily side, you may not like this. I love the fact that it comes with a dropper, which makes it easy to dispense the perfect amount. All-in-all, if you haven’t tried this, you should definitely go to your local Sephora and ask for a sample.

Bobbi Brown Cosmetics long wearing foundation
macys.com
Foundation sticks were all the rage in 2016. Wanting to try one, I opted for the Bobbi Brown stick and it completely changed the game. It gives a buildable medium to full coverage without looking cake-y. Because I’m lazy and refuse to use more than one brush for my complexion, I use a BeautyBlender sponge to blend it out because I find it the best to blend out my concealer. But, with this particular product, I would suggest that you use a brush, as it can be difficult to blend out with a sponge.

Skincare Favorites

Masks have really helped improve my complexion this year. This Black Tea face mask is really interesting. It gives off a cooling sensation when you rinse it off. This is perfect for hydrating your skin, without leaving you greasy. It also helps with problematic acne-prone skin. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that’s struggling with these skin issues.

Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel Full Strength
bloomingdales.com
Every time I use this product, it completely blows my mind. I use it at night, before bed and when I wake up in the morning, I find that my skin is drastically improved. With this peel, I generally leave it on for 10-15 minutes and then rinse it off. This is perfect for acne-prone skin or if you struggle with dark marks. If you do purchase this, make sure you use it only once or twice a week. Anything more and you can run the risk of burning your skin. You don’t want to do that.

Simple Skincare Smoothing Facial Scrub
target.com
This was a surprising drugstore find. I love that it has exfoliants that give you a deep clean and removes your peaky dead skin. I love it so much that I even mentioned it in a previous post I dedicated completely to Simple Skincare.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream Intense Therapy
sephora.com
I usually have oily skin, but the dry winter weather has really dried me out. This face cream has really assisted with restoring my skin. I generally pat it in over the dry patches on my forehead and temples at night. If you have dry skin, this may be your best friend.

The Detoxifying Black Cleanser was a spur of the moment purchase. I was really interested in adding charcoal to my skin care routine and a representative at Sephora pointed me to this. It’s a black gel that warms on the skins. At first, it was extremely weird, but when you work it into a lather and rinse it off, it leaves your skin feeling soft and toxin-free.
Clothes
Anyone that knows me is very aware of my obsession with outerwear. I feel that the perfect sweater or trench just really makes the your whole outfit. It helps to tie in everything together, while keeping you warm.

Cardigan

15156901_1270773029632557_7793829131684014935_o
For the past couple of months, no one has been able to get me out of this particular cardigan. It’s the perfect cardigan to keep you warm. I’m a big fan of longline coats and sweaters because it really elongates your frame, making you look taller. It’s also versatile enough to be able to pair with not only jeans and a shirt, but a short dress.

Coat

I’ve gotten many questions about where I’ve gotten my go-to jacket. I feel bad explaining that I got it two years ago at Charlotte Russe, but I recently stumbled upon a similar jacket on Forever 21. I wear  this with just about every outfit. That’s what I love about trench coats. They help to dress up a laid-back outfit and also is the perfect statement piece for a midi dress or skirt. I love to pair this with high-waisted jeans and booties.

Coat
shoptailor.com
img_8658
This coat has been the best purchase I’ve made in Richmond. I fell in love with the dusty pink color. I find that depending on what you pair it with, it the color can come across either stone or a very light pink. Much like the previous trench, I love to pair this with high-waisted jeans and booties. I also like to pair it with a black dress. I also have to mention the owner of Shop Tailor, Taylor Alexis. She is the sweetest person and was so helpful when I was looking for the right trench. If you’re looking to purchase quality items from an awesome and down-to-earth person, you should definitely log onto ShopTailor.com.
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and I hope your New Year is even better. Let me know what some  of your favorites of 2016 have been. I’d love to see what you love and what I should be picking up in 2017.

VERT Beauty Review

VERT Beauty is a boutique located in Denver, Colorado that sells a variety of organic beauty products. Along with green beauty services, VERT Beauty offers a line of natural and eco-friendly beauty products.

I had the wonderful opportunity to review some products from the company.

dsc_0193

I was able to get my hands on several VERT Beauty products. Products included were the Cheek Contour brush, Concealer brush, and the Beauty Eyeliner Pencil in ‘Vert.’

dsc_0267

First off, I have to say that I was very pleased to find that the Contour Brush was extremely soft. Just as the name suggests, the bristles are contoured to fit the hollows of your cheekbones. The bristles are made out of natural ebony capra (goat) hair that allows you to get a medium to full coverage with your bronzer application. This brush retails for $32.

Best Uses: Applying bronzer or contour in the hollows of your cheek as well as around the perimeter of your face.

dsc_0208

The next brush, which is my favorite of the two is the Concealer brush. The synthetic bristles are perfect for covering small breakouts. My favorite thing about this particular brush is the design. The brush has a removable “cap” that allows it to be perfect to put in your travel bag for on-the-go touch-ups.

The bristles are perfect for applying concealer because it is stiff enough for precise applications, but flexible enough to allow you blend out edges. This brush retails for $20.

Best Uses: Carving out your brows, outlining your lips and covering up small blemishes.

The last thing that I was given the beautiful VERT Beauty Eyeliner Pencil in the color ‘Vert.’ The color is this beautiful turquoise-jade shade. It’s buildable, so you’re able to add more layers to get your desired pigmentation. I found that the product itself was very smooth and easy to glide on. Ingredients include jojoba oil, mango seed oil, flower extracts and other nourishing ingredients that ensures that the pencil won’t skip over your lids. (No wrinkles with this product!)

VERT offers five different eyeliner pencil shades. Shades include Noir Or (black gold), Bleu (navy), Violet (purple), Cuivre (copper), and Vert. This pencil retails for $17.

Best Uses: Make hazel and brown eyes pop by creating a wing with Vert. Greens tend to make these color eyes stand out a bit more.

dsc_0206

I’m so glad to have been able to test these products out. I love learning about eco-friendly brands like VERT. The brushes are definitely worth it in my opinion. The brushes I received are from the VERT Beauty Brush Kit, which retails for $185. You can purchase the brush kit from the website here.

You can see other products VERT Beauty has to offer on the website.

KBShimmer Review

These products were given to me to test, but thoughts are 100% my own.

KBShimmer is a beauty company that offers a variety of products from body scrubs to nail polishes. At the beginning of the month, KBShimmer launched their Winter/Holiday Collection with 16 new shades. I recently had the opportunity to get my hands on some new nail polishes from the new collection.

screen-shot-2016-12-18-at-6-02-35-pm

Also, would you like to know the best thing about the two polishes? They’re not tested on animals. (Claps for saving the bunnies!)

I was given two shades: Get To The Poinsettia (right) and Have A Look-Ski (left). Both have a holo (holographic) cast to them, which made me fairly skeptical of the pigmentation of them. However, after trying them out, I was pleasantly surprised.

dsc_0260

Let’s talk about Have A Look-Ski first. It’s a very pretty teal holo. It comes out a bit lighter on the nails than what you see from the bottle.

dsc_0256

I’m a big fan of nude polishes because the go with everything, but this color was a refreshing twist on my everyday look. I was able to get the full pigmentation of this polish after two coats. I really enjoyed wearing this for the weekend.

Get To The Poinsettia is definitely my favorite of the two. It was also the more pigmented of the two. Though the website says to apply two coats, I found that one coat was pigmented enough to fully cover my entire nail.

dsc_0266

Much like Have A Look-Ski, Get To The Poinsettia has a holo cast to it. I applied it to my toes and it lasted the fairly well, considering I didn’t apply a top coat to my toes.

Final Thoughts:

I really enjoyed the two polishes. My favorite thing about the two polishes is how quick-drying they are. By the time I finished applying one coat to each of my fingernails, my first hand was dry. If you don’t believe me, try it out for yourself!

I just have to say that if you are a germaphobe like me and you constantly wash your hands, you definitely need to apply a quick-dry top coat. This will ensure that your beautiful holo nails will last longer.

The polishes in KBShimmer’s Holiday/Winter Collection are now available. You can purchase them for $9.25 at KBShimmer.com, Amazon, and select salons and retailers.

(Pro-tip: Make your manicure last longer with a couple of easy steps! Make sure your nails are clean by sweeping them with acetone or alcohol before you apply the polish. This ensures that your nails don’t have any oil on them, which will help you avoid peeling. Also, wrap a bit of the polish around the tip of your nail to avoid chipping!)
