Top 5 Deep Lips for Winter

It’s that time of the year again. The weather is colder, snow has fallen, and dark lips are in.   I’m sure that all of you have seen this image floating all around Instagram about the “perfect” winter makeup. This look is paired with the perfect deep, plum lips.

I really do love a deep, purple lip in the winter time. It can be paired with a neutral eye to make a bold statement or with a dramatic, smokey eye to make your look more sultry. After some thorough research, I’ve managed to culminate a list of my top five plum lips.

Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour in “An Affair”
This is a deep plum shade that is perfect to pair with just liner or a blown out smokey eye. Very creamy and comfortable to wear. Sold out on the Laura Mercier website, but it’s on for $28!

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in “Firebird”
This has more of a pink undertone, if you’re nervous about going dark. The cream finish makes it super easy to apply. It’s $17 on the Urban Decay webpage.

Bite Beauty Matte Créme Lip Crayon in “Aubergine”
I’m a big fan of the Bite Beauty Lip Crayons. This eggplant shade, in particular, is easy to apply and comfortable on the lips. It’s $24 on

MAC Plushglass Lip Gloss in “Oversexed”
I’m a big fan of the MAC Plushglasses because of the plumping effect. This is perfect if you’re over the matte trend and you want to go glossy. Unfortunately, does not carry it online anymore, but you can find it on for $21.

ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip in “LAX”
I’m absolutely obsessed with this vampy red color. If you love to go really dark, this is the lip for you. (Be sure to exfoliate before you apply!) Find it on for $6.

I’m a big fan of all of these lippies. Do you have a favorite out of the ones I listed? If I didn’t list your go-to vampy lip, comment your favorite because I’d love to know.

Worth it or Not? — Sephora Favorites

We all check out the Beauty-to-Go section in Sephora while we’re waiting to go check out. Is that item worth it?

We all check out the Beauty-to-Go section in Sephora while we’re waiting to go check out. (If you’re anything like me, you end up letting the rest of the line go in front of you so you can check out every item.) While you’re waiting, your eyes come across the Sephora Favorites: Give Me Some Lip and you probably aren’t sure if it’s worth the $28 or not.

Well I’m here to tell you, it definitely is worth it.

Before we get into the contents of the kit, let’s talk about the adorable packaging. It’s in the shape of lips and I’m kind of embarrassed to say how long my sister and I gushed about how adorable it was.

The price is also fairly reasonable. I know some may think that it’s not, but let’s think about it. A full sized lip product, such as the Too Faced Melted Longer Lipstick (Deluxe size included!) is $21. In the Sephora Favorites kit, you’ll get multiple products for just $7 more.

Inside, Sephora includes around six deluxe-sized lip products. The products can be a hit or miss, depending on the theme. This particular Give Me Some Lip Kit was definitely a hit.

Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in “Lovecraft”
This is a beautiful mauve color that’s perfect for fall time. It’s creamy and very pigmented, much like many other Kat Von D products.
The full size retails for $21.

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment with SPF 15 in “Rose”
This is a high-end chapstick. It’s not my favorite chapstick, but the thin formula is great to keep your lips moisturized underneath your matte lipsticks. (Bonus: it smells great and leaves a slight pink tint on your lips!)
The full size retails for $24.

Too Faced Melted Longer Lipstick in “Melted Chihuahua”
If you haven’t tried the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks, stop everything you’re doing now and run to your local Sephora now. These are very creamy and leave a beautiful shine to your lips. I really do love the formula.
The full size retails for $21.

Smashbox Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick in “Stepping Out”
This is my favorite product in this whole set. The color is absolutely perfect for my deeper skinned makeup lovers. Also the formula is perfect. It’s extremely comfortable on the lips and long-lasting. This is definitely a must-have and I can’t wait to purchase other colors.
The full size retails for $24.

Nars Satin Lip Pencil in “Rikugien”
If you got last year’s birthday present from Sephora, this is the same lip pencil that was included. It glides on easily and the color is easy to wear everyday.
The full size retails for $26.

Lancôme Juicy Shaker in “Boom-Meringue”
This by far is the weirdest product I have ever tried. You can use it as both a lip and check color. To use it, you need to shake it and the oil (top layer) that you see will combine with the  color (bottom layer). I am equal parts intrigued as well as I am confused by this product. I can’t give a full recommendation to buy this, but I do have to say it’s very nourishing on the lips.
The full size retails for $21.

So final thoughts?

highly recommend that once the next Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Lip sets. For only $28, I don’t think you can beat that. Though this particular set is not available in Sephora stores anymore, these individual products are still on the market. So makeup lovers all around, be sure to take advantage of these when you have the chance. You don’t want to miss out on the next set!

Have you tried any of these products? What did you think of them because I’d love to get your thoughts!

Lippies to Consider

On the hunt for some new lippies? Here are some that you should consider.

Lippie Lookbook

On the hunt for some new lippies? Here are some that you should consider.

I’m so glad we got NARS Satin Lip Pencil in “Rikugien” as a Beauty Insider birthday gift. The NARS Lip Pencils are very creamy and easy to apply. Rikugien may be on the sheer side, but that’s what I love about it. Sometimes you need that color that is too pigment to not have to worry about taking on the go.

NARS Sheer Lipstick in “Dolce Vita” is another favorite. I purchased it at Sephora in the Sephora Favorites “Give Me Some Nude Lip” sets. (Which you should really take advantage of. You generally get 5-6 lip products in the set, most of which are deluxe sizes, but all of which is only $25.) This one is also on the sheer side, but it’s another one of those colors that you can stuff in your bag that you know will always look good.

NYX Xtreme Shine Lip Cream in “Buttery Nude” is an old favorite of mine. It’s very creamy, but not super sticky. For a nude, it’s really pink, but I don’t mind them. If you are the hunt for a pigmented gloss, this is one formula you should be looking at. – P.S. They’re on sale for only $3 right now!

There’s a reason that the ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip in “Beeper” is a best-seller. The formula of these come out more liquid-y than other formulas, but it’s not as drying as other formulas. They are extremely pigmented and this shade is to die for. And at only $6 a pop, they’re a steal! – Try them with the ColourPop Lippie Primer! It definitely helps with the comfortability.

Now the Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Color in “Milky Way” may not be for everyone. I did refrain from using a lip liner, making it look extremely ashy. I just wanted this video to display the true color. I do wear this with a brown lip liner, making it more wearable. It’s also really creamy!

Another ColourPop shade for the win! ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip in “Mess Around” is such a different color. It’s a brown with some grey in it. Just like “Beeper,” it has that liquid-y, but comfortable formula. Definitely a fun color to play around with that’ll be good for fall!

I can’t help it, I love to wear pinks and nudes on my lips and NYX Butter Gloss in “Angel Food Cake” is one of them. It’s not as pigmented as the Xtreme Shine Lip Creams, but they are comfortable glosses that you can wear all day.

Also, might I just say that my lips were burning after making this video?

*Pro tip, if you’re trying to remove liquid lipsticks, use a little bit of olive oil. It helps to remove the lipstick with little tugging at your lips!
